SHOOT

Cameras
We have 2 complete RED One Digital Cinema Camera kits. These have been setup with hi-end feature and TVC filmmaking in mind, including the latest ARRI mattebox & follow focus accessories. Our RED camera packages include a qualified datasherpa who will ensure your footage is backed up safely and can field tech issues and questions regarding RED.  We have recently added to our rentals fleet Canon 5D and 7D kits with ARRI accessories and a host of L-series glass.

Non-linear HD digital video split
When it comes to on-set playback, RED cameras are notoriously slow and unreliable for shot replay.  Enter the KiPro non-linear HD recorder.  This battery-powered, hand-holdable beast records straight to the Apple ProRes codec and can store up to 6 hours of 1080p on a single cartridge.  Best of all, recording and playback can be controlled wirelessly from an iPhone.  We have configured this unit in a clamshell style with a folding HD monitor and side-mounted battery power.

Data Support
Good data wrangling requires more than a laptop and some hard drives. In fact, our general position is 'never trust a hard drive'. For ultimate peace-of-mind we backup to LTO4-A data tape. These 800gb cartridges have a 30yr shelf life and are undoubtedly the safest medium to hold digital rushes. In addition we use the fastest mobile RAID drives available, all wired into in custom flight cases with pimped-out 17" Macbook Pro laptops and uninterruptible power supplies. If the location requires, a Graetzmedia Datasherpa can provide desks, chairs, a generator and a gazebo.

Online Dailies
We are in the test phase of a new online dailies service which can provide a searchable database of web-resolution clips within hours of a shoot. This database can be used by department heads and interested parties from anywhere in the world, to review, log and annotate footage at any resolution. Stay tuned for more details.

POST

It's fair to say that Final Cut Pro has revolutionised professional post-production. But not all Final Cut Pro setups are created equal. The core of our system is Apple XSan and the new Final Cut Server. This gives us the ability to connect multiple editors to the same media at the highest speeds, without any corruption or data loss. The system is easily scalable and entirely secure. We currently have two 2K realtime suites connected to the XSan. Our main edit suite features a grading theatrette with a 110" screen fed by a hi-end 1080p DLP cinema projector. The grading suite utilises a custom console similar to those seen in DaVinci-esque setups.

Final Cut Server provides remote edit and collaboration for our editors and clients. We can 'check-out' projects onto laptops and edit in the field and then seamlessly link the projects back-to-base. Clients can login from anywhere in the world and view edits-in-progress, make notes and approve projects. This level of access and automation has increased our productivity and accountability no-end.

Our knowledge of image acquisition, particularly with RED, gives us a unique edge on creating smooth workflows for everything from short-films, TVCs, music videos and trailers to feature-length documentaries and theatrical releases.
